This was simultaneously quiet and riveting; meticulous and stirring; mechanical and heartbreaking. Jacques Becker's final film is one of unbelievable refinement that any other director can only hope to mimic. Jean-Pierre Melville said that it was probably the greatest French film ever made. It has a rating of 8.5 on this notoriously unreliable sight, which easily qualifies its placement on the IMDb top 250 films of all time, and yet it is not there. Why? Beyond me.

The Young Girls of Rochefort
(1967)
Perhaps the Finest of all Musicals
5 March 2022
I did not think there was a cure to the toppling depression which I was left in after The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, but Jacques Demy managed to make do just that, through one of the great delightful cinematic experiences. I don't usually write reviews on IMDb, but this really should be one of the most appreciated French films ever made. I am not saying that it is overlooked, because it's certainly not that, and I definitely have no problems with Cherbourg, which is Demy's most well known picture in this country. I merely wish that this would get the same attention, because it deserves all that, and much more.
Christmas Shenanigans
7 January 2022
I love it when a television show can come to a complete stop to make room for some completely unrelated material to the plot, while building upon the characters in a way that does not feel like filler at all, just to celebrate Christmas cheer and go on their many adventures.
Two English Girls

Another Romantic Triumph
29 September 2021
Truffaut manages to detach the audience from the romance we are being shown, while simultaneously heavily involving us in it. Like Jules and Jim, it is hard to believe that people really acted this way, but that is part of the mastery of the film. This is a truly great romance that must have a blu ray release.
Knives Out
(2019)
My Favourite Film in Years
10 December 2019
Knives Out is an exceptionally wonderful murder mystery that is the most entertaining movie I've seen all year. It is freshly original, and the casting is superb. This is a strong contender for my favourite film of the decade, and I strongly recommend it to any fan of Agatha Christie or the mystery genre in general.
The Second and Final Act of a Great Story

Great Episode

Best episode of season2
30 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I can't remember watching this episode before now, although I know I did. I am currently rewatching new Doctor Who (my favorite show), for the first time in a very long while. This is the best episode of the show, easily, by far, still, the best is yet to come
Incredibles 2
(2018)
(I know this is a cliche, but) It was worth the 14 year wait
20 June 2018
(The) Incredibles 2, was my most anticipated movie of the year, and it delivered in almost every aspect. While the villain was slightly obvious and underwealming, the great action scenes and humor make up for that, and it is my favorite Pixar movie since Inside Out.
