I liked the film. I know all the White people were bad and the black people were subject to stereotyping. But the story line wasn't that bad.
I liked the fact that a girl wasn't shown weak and cowering. She fought back. Dmitri and Nya were bold characters. Some scenes are so good. Like the one where Dmitri and his gang throw a smoke bomb and open fire.

The government wanted to get rid of the weaker society so that they did not have to fund them anymore - that is the whole point of the experiment.

I read this book. I loved it. So, I have an upper hand here.
I don't want to give any spoilers but this movie was amazingly created. I can't even get the words right. I know. I'm over whelmed with emotion. The last scene got me. I was in tears when Simon's secret was out.
It's true what he said. He lost the chance, his right to come out on his terms - when and how he wanted to. This movie did not ruin the book at all. Maybe things were different, some parts changed. But I would watch it again and again and again while eating Oreos.
