While the whole 10% thing is scientifically wrong, the path of human evolution to a higher state of being, as is depicted, is quite plausible and could make sense even from a scientific point of view (at least in part). But what makes this movie great, is not the plot, it's that it raises a few important philosophical questions, and also offers some possible answers (quite rare). So while the Sci in SciFi may not apply to this movie,it does offer food for thought, which is the great thing about SciFi movies. The only thing that bothered me was the fact that the 10% story was presented in a very serious, academic manner (college course) and could make some people actually believe it is scientifically valid.
